Darkness over the deep: Dark and covered with water[2] 3. God’s Spirit at work: Guarding the earth[3] 1a. The Holy Spirit was active in the creation. B. Light (v3-5) 1. Something other than the sun (Rev. 21:23) 2. A separation of light and darkness C. The expanse (v6-8) 1. Earth’s atmosphere and beyond (Is. 40:22; Gen. 1:14-19) 2. Separated celestial waters from terrestrial waters D. Land and Seas Separated (v9, 10) E. Plants (v11-13) F. Lights in the Expanse (v14-19) 1. Sun, moon, and stars 1a. Separate day and night 2a. Things to Notice (Comparing Worldviews) A. The creation was a willful act: “God said” (v3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26). B. The creation reflected the Creator’s perfection (“Good”) (v4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31). C. The creation was meant to inhabit the world (v11, 20, 22, 28). D.
